BEA 2007: Bad News for Me, Good News for YOU!

www.inkthinkerblog.com — I was planning to attend Book Expo America at the Javits Center in NYC later this month, but unfortunately I’ve had to cancel the trip due to cash flow issues. By which I mean that the cash has been flowing out too quickly and hasn’t been flowing in fast enough (See my post on 5 Things I Learned This Week That I Really Wish I Hadn’t.). If you’re a freelancer, I’m sure you’ve been there at least once before!

So I’ve decided to do the mature thing and stay home (sniff, sniff) rather than taking a week off of work and spending even more money without bringing anything in. I’m pouting about it, which takes some of the maturity away from the decision, but I’m sticking with it. I’m such a grown-up, do you love it?

If anyone’s attending the Writer’s Digest conference that precedes BEA, please let me know! Shoot me a query (which will count toward your May total for the Query Challenge, btw) and sell me on your reporting skills.

For examples of what I’m ultimately going to be looking for, check out my BEA posts from last year, when it was here in DC:
