How NOT to get a freelance assignment

www.inkthinkerblog.com — Rant warning!

There are lots of ways to not get the freelance writing job you want, but I’m going to focus on one fool-proof way to not get the job: publicly post a desperate, gramatically incorrect, plea for gigs somewhere that’s intended as a jobs board, not a “hire me please” board. To ensure that you absolutely will not be considered ever by anyone who reads your plea, include your real name, real e-mail address, and real website instead of going the anonymous route (which won’t make you any friends, but leaves open the possibility that if someone were to come across you in the future, your name wouldn’t immediately call up recollections of Anonymous Desperate Writer). No wonder so many people think we’ll work for nothing.

That is SO true, Kristen! I think, “My God – you’re so desperate you haven’t even taken the time to post to the correct board!” What does it take to craft a professional advertisement for your services and put it in the proper place? Sheesh!
