I don’t remember who turned me on to this page (Miss Snark, was it you?), but I stumbled across The Publisher-Dating Dictionary the other day and couldn’t stop giggling. Don’t do these things, lest you be single (read: unpublished) forever. However, I also recommend that you don’t use the example of a query letter they provided. If you decide it’s the best for whoever you’re targeting, so be it, but it struck me as painfully boring. (So I guess if I ever become a literary agent, huge magazine editor, or major publisher, you shouldn’t submit that query letter to me. :])
