www.inkthinkerblog.com — This morning I had a delightful (and long!) coffee date with a new friend, another Fredericksburg-based freelance writer. We met at a Riverside Writers meeting and hit it off right away, so we made plans the next week. She figured out where she knew me from previously (she knows one of my clients and found me through the client’s website), but I haven’t placed her yet. That didn’t stop us from running our mouths nonstop for two hours, though! We traded freelancing tips, shared funny stories, and talked about the challenges and joys of working from home. (And not only was it a blast, but it was also a tax write-off!) Is there a moral of the story? Not really, but I encourage you to seek out writers in your area to build your network, and your support system. Online options are great, but there’s a lot to be said for in-the-flesh friends and laughing over coffee.
