There’s more to consulting than “This sucks — do it better”

www.inkthinkerblog.com — I posted an announcement about my new website evaluation services in a forum I recently joined, and I got what I thought was a positively hilarious reaction (paraphrased below).

Me: Announcement

Them: You’re charging $295 to tell someone that their site sucks? I do that for free.

Me: No, I’m charging $295 to tell someone how to make it stop sucking.

For the record, a site evaluation can make a good site even better, so getting one doesn’t mean you’re an incompetent ninny who knows nuttin’ ’bout nuttin’. It means you’re a smart businessperson who wants to get the greatest possible return on every investment, including your website.

Obviously, someone doesn’t see value in what you do.
