Pickles Goes Hollywood

Pickles the Pug got a nose job yesterday. No, we’re not psychos who mutilate our pets to look like famous people (or dogs) — we’re responsible pet owners who know that irresponsible breeders through the years have caused the pug population to have inappropriately small noses and nasal passages that cause serious breathing problems later in life. Thus, the nose job.
We just got home from picking her up from the vet’s office. You can’t even really tell she had anything done because it’s all on the inside, but her nostrils are just a teeny bit more flared.
But now the funny part (as if the idea of my dog getting a nose job isn’t funny enough).
This is not Pickles, but this is what she’s wearing (except hers is like three times bigger, for some reason), and she’s about as happy about it as this little guy. We can’t stop laughing at her because she keeps running into things. Is it mean? Maybe a little. But admit it, you’d be laughing, too!
We’re trying to keep her quiet for the next two weeks (Yeah, right, like that’s going to happen? Have they met my dog?) so she can heal from the nose job and from her spay, which we did at the same time (again, responsible — and economical — pet owners), so I’ll have lots of photo opps! For now, we’re just trying to let her settle in to being back at the house.

Poor little darling! Fortunately, her beehive is on the way and that will help her feel much better. It should be there by Tuesday, and is addressed to “Pickles”.

Just wait until she gets stuck under a piece of furniture with that thing. I once had to take a couch apart when a dog I was dog-sitting managed to get UNDER it with the Elizabethan collar — but couldn’t get out.

Hope you’ve got plenty of power tools.

By the way, I LOVE the new template!

We just got a new couch and she’s kind of afraid of it, so hopefully she’ll stay that way until the collar is off. :] She’ll be so excited to get her toy!

For those who have no clue what we’re talking about, Devon was kind enough to swing through a pet store in her area to get me a replacement of a toy I bought for Pickles on a trip there in the fall, one that she has subsequently destroyed because she plays with it constantly.

    I’ll post/send pictures!

If her collar is thin plastic, you can probably take a pair of scissors and trim a few inches from the end.

Anon, I wish we could, but because of her nose surgery, we have to keep it long so she can’t root around and rip out her stitches, the thought of which leaves me feeling faint. I just keep reminding myself that it’s only 2 weeks…
