Word of the Year: w00t

by Kristen King on December 14, 2007

Who would have thunk it? The word of the year, according to Merriam-Webster, is "w00t," defined as "an expression of joy coined by online gamers… It could be after a triumph or for no reason at all."

I’m kind of speechless about this one, so you’d better just read the article. Sheesh.

Yeah, tell me about it! It’s not even a real word. Woot is a word, but w00t is not. Well, woot isn’t actually a word, but it’s more a word than two zeroes with a letter on either side!

Is w00t the new huzzah? Hysterical.
