www.inkthinkerblog.com

My February:

Queries Sent – 11
Successes – 2
Rejections – 1
Silver Lining – There are still 8 byline possibilities out there for me!

Success #1 – I will be writing an article on school health for a back-to-school issue of a family magazine to be published in September.
Success #2 – I proposed a new blog topic to DailyPixel (a Canadian blogging network) and it starts in 2 weeks

Harmony, you rock! And you’re doing great in the Lieurance-King New Year’s Article Challenge, too. Way to make the rest of us look bad. ;]

2007 Query Challenge Success Story #13 (from Tammy Takahashi)

www.inkthinkerblog.com

Hi Kristen,

So far, I’ve submitted 11 queries this year, two of which have been successful. One was for a non-paying, yet prestigious magazine that I’ve already submitted to before with varied results. But the second success was in response to a nearly blind ad at Craig’s List. I’m now working as a freelancer for a how-to website, with the flexibility and pay level I was looking for.

My persistence paid off. :)

I’m planning on continuing to send out queries, knowing that if I keep trying, eventually I will find that right match. It’s kind of like dating. :)

Thanks for inspiring me to do this challenge.

Tammy Takahashi

Great work, Tammy. As y’all know, I just love Craigslist for finding jobs.

2007 Query Challenge Success Story #12 (from Gale Martin)

www.inkthinkerblog.com

Buoyed by my goal of hitting 10 more queries this month, I sent out six thus far and got two acceptances in the last two days. I got a short story published in Laughter Loaf and Sirens accepted a column I jointly write with another writer. Thanks for the encouragement and the boost I needed to send out more work!

Go, Gale! Thanks for letting us celebrate success with you. :]

www.inkthinkerblog.com

ALSO, if you find that you’re not on the list of participants, you need to let me know that, too.

The first random prize drawing will take place in March. If you’re a participant and you haven’t reported your totals for January and February (or just February if you started late), you won’t be eligible to win the prize. So, make sure you contact me right away if you missed the update message or if you’re not on the list of participants!

And last, but not least, if you have a success story from the challenge, please send it my way so we can celebrate with you.
