Cancer survivorship resources (break from regularly scheduled programming)

I'm Too Young For This!

www.inkthinkerblog.com — One of my favorite clients, Steps For Living (SFL), launched a new program focusing on adolescent and young adult cancer survivors (as far as I’m concerned, you’re a survivor the moment you’re diagnosed) over at I’m Too Young For This (i2y for short). If you’ve got cancer or know someone who does (and let’s face it, who doesn’t know someone with cancer these days?), SFL and i2y are must-sees for you and your friends and family.

I blog in my dreams

www.inkthinkerblog.com — Well, not usually, but the other night I had a dream that one of my posts on ::inkthinker:: had 119 comments. I think it was inspired by this post from Miss Snark, who is decidedly on my list of 37 bajillion blogs to read daily.

Why you should understand (and avoid) misplaced modifiers

www.inkthinkerblog.com — In today’s New York Times headlines e-mail:

The decision appeared to end a controversy over the safety of silicone
implants that lasted more than two decades.

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds as though the silicone implants lasted more than two decades? Personally, I’d think that would be a good thing, because someone with implants wouldn’t need to replace them every 20 years. But something tells me that’s not what they meant. Read the article here. What do you think?

Granted, you’re no The Formerly-From-New-York-But-Moved-To-Virginia-er, but come on, NYT, you can do better than that.

Is somebody trying to tell me something?

www.inkthinkerblog.com — Ever since I saw the New England Casket Company truck the other day, I’ve been seeing caskets everywhere! Today as I was on my way to the bank, I passed a truck for the Batesville Casket Company (which, of course, made me think of Norman Bates in Psycho), whose slogan is something like “Helping you honor your loved ones, one coffin at a time.” This is me shuddering.

Blog feed subscriptions

www.inkthinkerblog.com — At Diane’s suggestion, I checked out Google Reader. Katharine greased the wheels with her suggestion of Bloglines. So far, so good. I love Google, so I decided to go in that direction. With the Google Toolbar already, well, I like to be consistent.

At any rate, I added all of the blogs I mean to read all the time, and the total is, get this, 52. Can you believe I want to read 52 blogs regularly? And I haven’t even gone through all of the recommended blogs in my sidebar–this is just the ones I’d bookmarked with the intention of going back to them at some point. but hadn’t necessarily added to the list over there >>>>>>>. So…now I’m no longer hoarding magazines, but I’m hoarding blog links. Awesome. Well, at least they take up less space, right?

And speaking of blogs, head over to this post for a list of 11 Heaven-Sent Blogs for Writers from back in September, by guest writer Sarah E. White. And once you’re done with that, be sure to nominate your favorite blog for writers over at Michael Stelzner’s blog.
