www.inkthinkerblog.com — Deb Ng brings up this intriguing question over at Freelance Writing Jobs.
Though 99% of my income comes from blogging, I do have the occasional copy or content writing gig. The other day a client approached me about writing some technical articles. I declined as I know nothing about the topic and didn’t feel qualified. I had someone else contact me recently about writing adult pieces, but I’m not comfortable with that. I tried writing erotica once, and it was rather embarrassing. …
So, I thought I’d throw out a fun question for the regulars. Are there topics or areas you won’t delve into ? What won’t you write about?
Have you ever thought about what topics would elicit a “No way, man!” from you? Share your thoughts here or over on Deb’s post, and be sure to check out the opinions folks have already shared.
And FYI, here’s my two cents:
…I…avoid adult material or anything that I feel promotes something I find morally reprehensible, both of which would make me really uncomfortable, and I also steer clear of graphic horror when I’m editing. I don’t want to get nightmares from my work!
I have strong religious beliefs, so it would be hard for me to write in an objective way on religious topics that are contrary to my beliefs. I fear I would have a very hard time not somehow injecting my opinions, even subconsciously. I also wouldn’t feel very good about promulgating information that could be something I feel is incorrect, like a differing interpretation of a central belief. It would be like a die-hard Republican writing pro-Democrat literature — it would be weird.

www.inkthinkerblog.com — So check this out: My fellow b5media blogger and all around blogging genius Darren Rowse is in the middle of a week-long series of posts dedicated to helping bloggers get back on the ball and fall in love with their blogs all over again.
Have you lost your blogging groove?
If you have – you’re not alone. Last week I chatted with a lot of bloggers who are either feeling disillusioned, uninspired, uncreative or just plain bored with their blogs. The result was that their blogs were suffering.
Perhaps it is the time of year (many in the northern hemisphere have all the distractions of summer while those of us in the south are feeling the winter blues) or perhaps it’s something else – but I’m sensing that many bloggers could need a little bit of a boost right now.
So this week I’d like to invite you to participate with me in a little project called the ‘Rediscover Your Blogging Groove‘ project. Read more.
I’m going to give it a whirl next week at Lively Women, and probably here, too. Leave your blog URL in the comments if you’re planning to participate so we can all support you!

www.inkthinkerblog.com — A couple of people have asked me about the new template here at www.inkthinkerblog.com, so I think I’d better clarify the three most commonly asked questions.
- YES, it is supposed to have four columns. Now, instead of having to scroll down and down and down to see the most recent posts, you get a snippet of all of them in about a screen and a half, without 27 miles of sidebar.
- NO, you should not have to register to post a comment, but YES, you do need to provide your name (which will be published) and your e-mail address (which is for me to contact you if there’s some kind of problem with your comment and which will not be published. If it’s telling you that you have to register, something is wrong. Try refreshing your browser while holding down the SHIFT key.
- YES, I know there are Google ads at the top of the posts. I put them there. And no, it’s not because I sold out to the man–it’s because I spend a lot of time on Inkthinker and I don’t get paid for it, so I need some way to recoup my costs.
Something else that’s baffling you? Post your question in the comments and I’ll be sure to clear it up for you. Thanks!
