www.inkthinkerblog.com — The first month of the 2008 Query Challenge was a smashing success, and the numbers are still rolling in from our more than 80 queriers! If you haven’t reported your numbers yet, please check your e-mail for a reminder from me and get that info over ASAP. Now, on to the good stuff…
From Beth Skwarecki…
I … went to a party this month and proudly answered “I’m a writer!” every
time someone asked what I do.
From Colin Gailbraith…
[My queries] bagged me 3 gigs and 1 regular writing job – can’t complain with that! :-) My favourite query this mohth would have to be the very informal one I made to the editor I was working for at an SEO article writing company. He left the company and in a farewell email to him I mentioned if he should ever need a copywriter in the future to look me up. He replied to my email five minutes later, which started “well actually…” – and I was taken on his writing staff for a paid blogging gig writing weekly articles there and then. One regular gig became two, and I was most chuffed!
(NB: “Chuffed,” Colin has informed me, means “proud of oneself.”) From Erin Blakemore…
I sent out 16 queries this month and had an amazing 11 acceptances! Most of the queries were more along the lines of letters of introduction rather than pitching specific articles.
From Diana Eid…
I received two assignments this month from those queries! :)
From Sharon Hurley Hall…
I sent out 30 queries/bids for writing jobs and landed two of them (so far!)
